About 30 student filmmakers have four days, absurd props, wacky loglines and one outrageous saying that must be used to create a cinematic masterpiece.
The Student Film Organization began its four-day film festival last night in the Carnegie Cinema forming groups and handing out all of the criteria that must be included in their five-minute film of any genre. Students were able to form groups of two or more.
SFO President Davey Rockwell, a Penn State senior film and video major, said, “The purpose of the event is to get students excited about making films right at the start of the semester and also gives people the opportunity that have not been able to make films to work with students who have.”
The students have until 4 p.m. Sunday to complete their films, then there will be a free showing in Carnegie Cinema. The officers will vote on all the entries, and the winning filmmakers will receive four tickets to The State Theatre.
Included is a video of Rockwell explaining a little more about the competition and what some of the competitors maybe doing with their outrageous guidelines.
