Health Department Reports 1 Fewer COVID-19 Case in Centre County

The Pennsylvania Department of Health on Tuesday removed one COVID-19 case from Centre County’s total.

Centre County has now had 132 cases since the first was reported on March 20. The reduction is most likely due to a correction to a patient’s county of residence.

Pennsylvania’s total number of COVID-19 cases is now 63,666, with 610 new positives reported on Tuesday. It was the ninth consecutive day the state had fewer than 1,000 new cases.

The state has had 4,624 COVID-19 deaths, with the health department adding 119 new deaths to its count on Tuesday.

The county has had five COVID-19 deaths, which all occurred among residents of nursing or personal care homes, according to the most recent health department data published on Monday. Nursing home data does not appear on the health department site as of noon on Tuesday, but a note says it will be published later in the afternoon.

As of Monday, three nursing homes in the county had a combined 18 resident and 13 employee cases. The Oaks at Pleasant Gap, Wynwood House in State College and Centre Crest in Bellefonte have each reported resident or employee cases.
