Hush Room to Host Pop-Up Shop Benefiting Centre County Women’s Resource Center

State College DIY art space The Hush Room will host a pop-up shop benefitting the Centre County Women’s Resource Center (CCWRC) from Friday to Sunday. The venue is located at 110 Hetzel Street, and the pop-up shop will offer hand-selected clothing of all styles ranging from streetwear to vintage.

Penn State integrative arts students Rebecca Aronow and John Ott organized the benefit. Aronow has booked benefit concerts throughout State College since her freshman year and the first concert she ever booked was a benefit for the CCWRC, an event raised more than $1,000.

After she decided to switch things up by inviting local artists to sell clothing and art, she knew she had to organize a similar event this year.

“The pop-up shop idea just made sense because it was proven to work… one of John’s aspirations is to design and sell clothes to benefit charities,” Aronow said. “I also think the act of thrifting is a fun way to de-stress, [and it] gives you an opportunity to find really unique pieces.”

The shop will feature brands like Supreme, Palace, Hook-ups, Adidas and Nike, as well as vintage pieces with screen-printed designs by John Ott.

The event from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, as well as from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Both cash and credit will be accepted, and all proceeds will go to the Centre County Women’s Resource Center and its efforts to assist those impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault.

“John and I decided to organize this pop-Up shop to benefit CCWRC — a truly amazing organization that we’re so lucky to have in this community,” Aronow said. “As someone who has experienced sexual assault, I feel especially motivated to help this organization as much as I can.”
