Penn State’s Student Programming Association announced Monday afternoon that it has rescheduled its Distinguished Speaker Series Lecture with actress Laverne Cox for 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 20. As originally planned, the lecture will be held in Eisenhower Auditorium.
The lecture had been postponed earlier this month when the Emmy-nominated star of ‘Orange Is the New Black’ told SPA she wouldn’t be able to make the appearance originally scheduled for March 28. Cox cited “upcoming projects and a busy film schedule” as the reason for postponing the lecture.
Cox is the first transgender woman of color to have a leading role on a mainstream scripted television show.
Free tickets will be available starting April 6 for Penn State students with a valid university ID. Each student is able to get two tickets to the lecture. Remaining tickets will be made available to the general public on April 13. Tickets will be available at Centre for the Performing Arts box office locations.
