I am writing this letter to support our state Senator Jake Corman in the upcoming election. As an administrator at a local career and technical center (CPI), I have had the opportunity to work with Jake and his staff in expanding degree and diploma programs to support workforce opportunities in central Pennsylvania.
Sen. Corman has been a strong advocate of career and technical education and supporter of CPI since he was first elected to the Pennsylvania Senate. Because he knows the importance of a skilled workforce and its positive impact on jobs and the regional economy, Jake has championed efforts to expand the campus at CPI to deliver graduates in high-demand, high-wage fields such as heavy diesel construction, equipment operations, commercial driving and the growing healthcare sector. Sen. Corman’s advocacy and leadership has helped make state-of-the-art training available to both high school and adult students at CPI’s Hawbaker Transportation Training Center.
In addition, Jake has led efforts to support CPI in adding capacity to deliver two-year specialized health degree programs in fields like nursing, surgical technician and others. These career fields are vital to the continued growth and expansion of our outstanding healthcare facilities in Centre and the surrounding counties. To help support our area’s first responders (fire, police, EMS), Sen. Corman has worked closely with Centre County government and CPI to expand training and certification options at the Centre County Public Safety Training Center (CCPSTC).
From day one Senator Corman has worked hard to support technical education leading to a skilled, capable workforce. I hope that you will join me in supporting Jake Corman on Tuesday, November 6.
