I am proud to endorse Brian Marshall, a registered Democrat, for Centre County Court of Common Pleas judge.
This county has been fortunate enough to have judges with good judicial temperament, both past and present. As an attorney who is in court almost every day, I feel that the importance of judicial temperament cannot be understated. It is primarily a function of a judge’s personality rather than something that can be learned. I am confident that Brian will continue our local tradition of calm and patient judges, who are respectful of those who appear before them.
Brian is at the stage of his successful legal career where he is ready to make the transition from lawyer to judge, while also young enough to serve as judge for decades to come. Family law and criminal law make up the lion’s share of Court of Common Pleas cases. As a family law practitioner, Brian is well-suited to preside over divorce and child custody cases from day one. Although criminal law has not been the focus of his practice, he has more experience with criminal law than other Centre County judges have had before taking the bench.
In addition to knowledge of relevant, substantive law, what really sets Brian apart is his training and experience in collaborative law and third-party mediation, both of which are directly applicable to the role of a judge.
In short, Brian has both the knowledge and temperament to make a fine judge.
