ELECTION 2010
77th District State House: Patton Township Republican Joyce Haas defeated opponent Ron Reese by nearly 700 votes. She will face Democratic incumbent Rep. Scott Conklin for his seat.
Lieutenant Governor: With 75 precincts still unreported, the race for lieutenant governor is not yet finished. Conklin holds a 5,000 vote (or half of a percentage point) lead, but his campaign is waiting for a final tally.
Other Elections: Rep. Joe Sestak defeated five-term incumbent Sen. Arlen Specter in a highly anticipated Democratic primary. Democrat Dan Onorato will face Republican Tom Corbett in the general-election race for governor.
Today’s Column: This election had a few things going against it, especially weather and interest. Voter turnout in Centre County showed just that.
