Olympic speed skater Allison Baver will be the 2010 Homecoming grand marshal at Penn State, the Homecoming Executive Committee announced Wednesday.
The committee chose Baver for the distinguished role. She graduated in 2003 from Penn State Berks and won a bronze medal at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, according to a news release.
A Reading resident, Baver holds a degree in marketing and management from Penn State. The Homecoming Executive Committee has chosen to honor Baver because of her athletic accomplishments and her willingness to ‘give back to aspiring young athletes,’ Alumni Relations Director Dj Ryan said in the news release.
Penn State Homecoming week will begin Oct. 3.
