Students moved into the first phase of the new State College Area High School in January, and now the community will get a chance to have a look inside.
The school district will host an open house at the new high school building from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 7 to showcase the new State High’s progress so far and to thank the community for its support of the $137 million project, which was made possible when in 2014 voters approved a referendum to authorize borrowing for design and construction.
The Lion Ambassadors student group will lead tours of the building during the open house
Students began classes in the new building on Jan. 8 after about two years of construction and many more of planning, mostly completing phase one of the three-phase project.
For the first time, the new facility brings all four high school grades into one building, which is segmented into four main, three-floor ‘pods.’
The second and third phases of the project will complete counseling offices and the new library, build new athletic and performing arts areas and construct a new building that will bring the Delta Program to the north campus from its current location in the Fairmount Avenue Building.
