Pedestrian Reported Hurt in State College Hit-and-Run, Police Say

A woman crossing Patterson Street on foot was struck by a turning car early Saturday morning, State College police said.

The woman suffered a small cut to the chin in the 1:58 a.m. hit-and-run incident, according to the police report. It happened at the intersection of Patterson Street and West College Avenue, police said.

Police said the woman was hit by a small, black car; it left the scene without stopping, according to the report.

In other incidents reported by State College police over the weekend:

— An Xbox 360, two Apple MacBooks, an iPad and numerous DVDs and games were reported stolen from an unlocked Hamilton Avenue apartment, police said.

The belongings, together worth an estimated $2,000, were taken from 108 E. Hamilton Ave., according to a police report. A door at the apartment had been left unlocked, and the theft was reported at 2:09 a.m. Saturday, police said.

— An intoxicated 18-year-old was found trespassing in someone’s kitchen at 505 W. Prospect Ave., police said.

Police said a resident there awoke early Saturday to the sound of breaking dishes and heavy breathing. The resident grabbed a machete, left through a second-floor window and took off on foot for the borough police department, 243 S. Allen St., according to a police report. He got to the station shortly after 5 a.m.

Officers soon arrived at his residence, where they discovered the trespassing teenager drunk and ‘lodged’ between some kitchen cabinets and a dishwasher, police said. Charges against the 18-year-old are pending.

— A man was punched in the face about 1 a.m. Saturday at 340 E. College Ave., police said. He suffered a swollen lip and a head wound after he fell to the ground, according to a police report. The assailant fled, and the incident remains under investigation, the report indicates.

— Students visiting from Duke University were caught in Sunset Park with a borough sign that they’d stolen inside the park, police said. They also were found to have a $4,000 Wal-Mart merchandise-scanning machine, according to a police report.

This happened about 4:15 p.m. Saturday, police said. Sunset Park is on the 800 block of McKee Street, in the College Heights neighborhood.

— Joshua Markel, whose age and address were not immediately available, was caught entering Acacia fraternity through a rear window, police said. This happened at 12:34 a.m. Sunday at the fraternity house, 234 Locust Lane, according to a police report.

Police said Markel was arrested and will face a charge of trespassing.
