Penn State: ‘Appropriate Efforts’ Welcome against ‘Irresponsible Establishments’

Seven State College bars are facing objections from the state as they try to renew their liquor licenses, StateCollege.com reported this month.

In light of that news, the website asked Penn State if the university has any comment or perspective on the situation.

University spokeswoman Lisa Powers has shared this written statement in response:

‘I can tell you that the university supports all reasonable efforts to minimize the dangers of unlawful drinking, some of which may be targeted at irresponsible vendors whose actions contribute to this problem. We want our students, alumni and visitors to State College to be safe and legal, and we welcome all appropriate efforts, whether by government agencies, business leaders, social services, or private citizens.’
