Penn State senior guard Tim Frazier hasn’t played basketball in over a year, but that hasn’t stopped those around the conference from expecting big things from him.

At Thursday’s Big Ten media day, Frazier was selected to the conference’s All Big-Ten preseason team along side Preseason Player of the Year Gary Harris (Michigan State), Mitch McGary (Michigan), Glenn Robinson III (Michigan), Adreian Payne (Michigan State) and Aaron Craft (Ohio State).

In 2011-12, Frazier’s last full season of competition, Frazier became just the sixth Nittany Lion to earn first-team All-Big Ten honors and the first in program history to be selected to the Big Ten All-Defensive team. Prior to his season-ending Achilles injury, Frazier was averaging 21.7 ppg and 5.8 apg with assists on 45.3 percent of available possessions.

That isn’t the only honor Frazier has been a part of this week, on Wednsday it was announced that he had beennamed as one of 30 candidates for the 2013-14 Senior CLASS Award in men’s basketball. The award is given to the NCAA Division I senior student-athlete with notable achievements in four areas of excellence – community, classroom, character and competition.

Of the 60 combined men’s and women’s candidates, 20 have grade point averages of 3.5 or higher.

Each of the 30 candidate classes will be narrowed to 10 finalists midway through the regular season, and those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans.

The Senior CLASS Award winners will be announced during the 2014 NCAA Men’s Final Four and NCAA Women’s Final Four.

The Nittany Lions will take the floor on Sunday for an exhibition game vs. Northwood (Fla.) at 2 p.m. before officially opening the 2013-14 campaign on Saturday, Nov. 9 in a 4:00 p.m. contest vs. Wagner at the Bryce Jordan Center.
