Penn State Football: 41 Former Nittany Lions Seek Roster Spots at NFL Training Camps

According to a Penn State news release Monday, a total of 41 Penn State football alumni will take part in training camp rosters.

The Nittany Lions are consistently among the top 15 programs nationally in producing current NFL players.

Twelve players from Penn State’s 2011 squad are currently vying for roster spots as rookies. The Oakland Raiders currently have the most former Nittany Lions on their active roster as four Penn State alum are looking to land a roster spot in the bay area.

Seven former Nittany Lions can also been seen the sidelines as part of NFL coaching staffs in 2012, including Mike Munchak, the second-year head coach of the Tennessee Titans.

Penn State coaching alumni include Gary Brown (Cleveland Browns), Sam Gash (Detroit Lions), John McNulty (Arizona Cardinals), Darren Perry (Green Bay Packers), and Michael Zordich (Philadelphia Eagles). Former six-year Penn State assistant coach Jim Caldwell will be in his first year as quarterbacks coach for the Baltimore Ravens.
