Penn State Football: A Few Old Tweets That Told The Future

It’s safe to say there have been a lot of tweets sent in the past several years about Penn State football. Most of them flash by without much notice, even the ones that pick up steam and spread across the web don’t last for long.

So it’s easy to forget what you once said or things that happened that years later seems so much more important. In the dead of the offseason and only weeks away from spring practice, here are a few things said years ago that seem far more important now.

1. New commits

Imagine a world without Trace McSorley or Grant Haley. No returned field goal block, no gritty dual-threat quarterback lobbing up deep balls.

2. A very different world

Speaking of which, imagine a world where Hackenberg stays for an extra year. The results would have been different, but whose to say Joe Moorhead couldn’t have made it work and fixed some of Hackenberg’s junior season issues?

3. Who is this guy?

A few thousand yards and a few dozen jaw-dropping plays later, I think we can all safely say that Saquon Barkley doesn’t just look the part.

4. Fortune son

What feels like a million years ago, remember when Penn State didn’t even know if the Michigan State game was going to matter? An Ohio State overtime win later and Penn State fans had their answer.

5. Bounce back

If anyone represents the turnaround Penn State football has had the past 12 months it’s Mike Gesicki.

6. You’re still here

That Ireland game feels like a million years ago, and amazingly Hamilton is still flying around making plays for Penn State and will do it for yet another season. With Chris Godwin on to the NFL, it might be Hamilton’s time to shine once again as a primary target like he did way back in the day.
