Freshman defensive end Shawn Oakman has been dismissed from the football team because of a violation of team rules, Penn State announced Tuesday night.
Oakman, 6-feet-9, 270 pounds, attended high school at Penn Wood, near Philadelphia, and participated in the Big 33 game last summer.
He redshirted his freshman season and recorded no statistics.
