Penn State Football: Nittany Lions Add Two More To 2015 Class

James Franklin and his staff kept the recruiting train rolling on Monday adding two more verbal commitments to the 2015 recruiting class according to multiple recruiting services.

Ryan Buchholz and Jake Cooper both gave Franklin and his staff their word. Both are Pennsylvania natives and three star prospects according to Rivals.com.

Buchholz is a 6-foot-6, 230 pound defensive end out of Malvern, PA and had picked up scholarship offers from over 10 schools including Duke, Rutgers, West Virginia, Northwestern and Vanderbilt. Buchholz visited campus on Monday along with Cooper.

Cooper, is a linebacker prospect from Warminster, PA weighing in at 6-foot-2, 226 pounds. Like Buchholz, Cooper picked up scholarship offers from many of the same regional schools such as Rutgers, Pittsburgh, Temple, and Virginia.

Both of Monday’s commits join fellow PA natives in Saquon Barkley and Ryan Bates. Bates and Barkley are among the Top 10 players in Pennsylvania’s 2015 recruiting class according to several recruiting services. Bates is rated the fourth best prospect in the state, Barkley the seventh best by the 247sports Network. Cooper is currently a teammate of Bates.

In addition to the four in-state recruits, Penn State’s 2015 class rounds out so far with Kamonte Carter and Jarvis Miller. In total Franklin and his staff have landed six verbal commitments since February 15, three of whom are considered to be four-star prospects by multiple outlets.

While Franklin has yet to coach a game at Penn State, it’s safe to say he is living up to his promise to dominate the state in recruiting thus far.
