Penn State will play its Big Ten Conference opener at Rutgers under the lights according to a Big Ten news release issued on Tuesday.
The Nittany Lions will introduce Rutgers to Big Ten action at 8 p.m. on Sept. 13 with the game airing on the Big Ten Network for the first contest of Rutgers Big Ten era. The game will be played at High Point Solutions Stadium in Piscataway, N.J. The Nittany Lions will be playing their earliest Big Ten opener since 1994 at Minnesota. Penn State had Rutgers on the 2014 schedule prior to the Knights joining the conference.
The Rutgers clash marks the third announced night kick time as the Nittany Lions will face Michigan on Oct. 11 for a 7 p.m. ET clash that will air on ESPN or ESPN2. The Big Ten East Division contest will be Michigan’s first Big Ten home night game. Penn State will host Ohio State on Oct. 25, with that East Division clash set for an 8 p.m. kick on ABC, ESPN or ESPN.
Penn State will be playing a prime time game on BTN for the fourth consecutive season.
Rutgers and Maryland will officially join the Big Ten on July 1, 2014 and Penn State will play both annually as East Division foes. The Nittany Lions host the Terrapins on Nov. 1. The three schools are joined by Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State in the East Division.
