Penn State Football: O’Brien Tabbed as Maxwell Club’s National Coach of the Year

Adding a second coach of the year award to his trophy case, Bill O’Brien was named The Maxwell Football Club’s Coach of the Year for 2012, it was announced Wednesday. 

Notre Dame’s Brian Kelly and Kansas State’s Bill Snyder were also finalists for the award.

‘Coach O’Brien has engineered a tremendous season for the Penn State football program while overcoming obstacles that many considered to be insurmountable,’ Maxwell executive director Mark Wolpert said in a news release. ‘The team’s 8-4 record is a great testament to the hard work of Coach O’Brien and his staff and also to the dedication shown by the student-athletes involved in the football program at Penn State.’ 

O’Brien was named the Big Ten Conference Coach of The Year and ESPN.com National Coach of The Year earlier this month and is still in the running for other national awards such as the Liberty Mutual Coach of The Year and Bear Bryant Coach of the Year Award.
