Penn State Hockey: Broadcast Details Released For 2016-17 Season

Penn State hockey’s 2016-17 season is just days away and now nearly all of the game times and broadcast details have been finalized the program announced on Tuesday.

In total Penn State will be on 12 televised games on NBCSN, ESPNU and the Big Ten Network.

Specifically the Nittany Lions will play on NBCSN, Saturday, Oct. 22 at Notre Dame (7:05 p.m.). The first game of the Notre Dame series will be streaming live on nbcsports.com. The Fighting Irish are slated to join the Big Ten conference in 2017-18, this series part of a home-and-home out of conference arrangement.

Penn State then welcomes ESPNU to Hockey Valley for the Big Ten Conference opener against Michigan on Thursday, December 1. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

In addition to those games Penn State will appear on television for nine regular-season contests on the Big Ten Network and BTN2Go beginning with the Jan. 14 contest at home against Michigan State (7:00 p.m.). That is the first of at least five games on BTN.

The Big Ten Tournament is then set for March 16-18 with all contests being aired nationally on BTN and BTN2Go. This year’s tournament will be held at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Michigan, the home of the NHL’s Detroit Red Wings.

The 2016-17 Nittany Lions start the season unofficially on Oct. 2 as they host Queen’s in the International Game before welcoming No. 16 St. Lawrence to Pegula Ice Arena for a pair of games on Oct. 6-7 at 7 p.m. to open the regular season.
