In only its second season of Division I play it looks like the Nittany Lions hockey team will have its hands full next season. They’ll be playing a full Big Ten schedule for the first time. And there are some big match-ups on the schedule released by The Big Ten conference Wednesday afternoon. Penn State will travel to Wisconsin to open conference play for a two game series starting Dec 6. The Nittany Lions ended last season with a 3-2 overtime victory against the No. 16 ranked Badgers.
During the 2012-13 season, the Nittany Lions faced three future Big Ten teams (Michigan State, Ohio State, Wisconsin) and earned at least one victory against all three schools.
The puck will drop in Penn State’s $90 million hockey facility Friday, Oct. 11 when the Nittany Lions’ men’s hockey team opens the 2013-14 season against the Army Black Knights.
Check out the entire Big Ten conference schedule below which features 10 home dates at the Pegula Ice Arena. TV broadcasts and start times will be announced later.
