Penn State-Temple Kickoff Set for Noon in Philadelphia

Penn State’s return to Philadelphia and a clash with Temple on Sept. 17 has been set for a noon kickoff at Lincoln Financial Field. The game will air on ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU HD, as well as the Penn State Sports Network and www.GoPSUsports.com, according to a story posted at GoPSUsports.

The contest against the Owls is the Nittany Lions’ fifth announced kickoff time for the 2011 season.

Penn State and Temple will be meeting for the sixth consecutive year and 41st time overall. The Nittany Lions lead the series, 36-3-1, winning 22-13 last year in Beaver Stadium. Penn State’s last visit to Lincoln Financial Field was in 2007, with the visitors winning, 31-0.

The Nittany Lions and Owls are scheduled to play in Beaver Stadium in 2012, ’14 and ’16, with a contest in Philadelphia during the 2015 season.

The contest in Philadelphia will be a homecoming for the more than a dozen Nittany Lions who hail from the Delaware Valley, including: DT Anthony Alosi (Marlton, N.J.), G Mark Arcidiacono (Holland), WR Justin Brown (Wilmington, Del.), WR Curtis Drake (Philadelphia), WR Andrew Goodman (Philadelphia), LB Gerald Hodges (Paulsboro, N.J), WR Shawney Kersey (Woodbury, N.J.), DE Eric Latimore (Middletown, Del.), DE Pete Massaro (Newtown Square), DT Devon Still (Wilmington, Del.), TE Andrew Szczerba (Wilmington, Del.), DT James Terry (New Castle, Del.) and G Johnnie Troutman (Brown Mills, N.J.)

Penn State had previously announced the kickoff times and TV for three home contests and one away game during its 125th season celebration:

• Sept. 10 vs. Alabama, 3:30 p.m. (ESPN on ABC)

• Oct. 15 vs. Purdue, 12:00 p.m. (TV TBA)

• Oct. 22 at Northwestern, 6:00 p.m. CT (BTN)

All remaining Penn State kickoff times and TV information most likely will be announced 12 days prior to game, starting on Sept. 12 for the home game with Eastern Michigan, which is Sept. 24.
