Penn State Women’s Soccer Earns Big Ten Postseason Awards

A number of Penn State women’s soccer players were named among the slew of Big Ten postseason honors announced Friday.

The Nittany Lions had three players named to the All-Big Ten First Team — Frannie Crouse, Nickolette Driesse, and Elizabeth Ball.

Crouse is the Big Ten leader in goals with 12 this season. Driesse is the senior captain leading the team with six assists. Ball is the team’s starting center back, directing the team’s young defense along with Brittany Basinger.

Penn State also had Charlotte Williams and Megan Schafer named to the All-Big Ten Third Team. Williams had four goals and four assists in 18 starts. Schafer was second on the team with 5 goals.

Laura Freigang and Amanda Dennis were named to the All-Big Ten Freshman Team. Dennis started every game in goal, tallying seven shutouts. Freigang scored twice this year with the game-winning goal in both the first and last game of the season.

Junior defender Isabelle Clause was a Big Ten Sportsmanship Award honoree.

Penn State is back in action 1 p.m. Sunday in the Big Ten Quarterfinals against Rutgers at Jeffrey Field.
