Penn State and its alumni have organized several Washington, D.C.-area events leading up to the weekend football game at FedEx Field, in Landover, Md.
That’s where Penn State will take on Indiana starting at noon Saturday. (For those not attending, the game will be televised on the Big Ten Network.)
For the blue-and-white faithful, here’s a rundown of school-spirited gatherings before the game:
- A social event starting at 7 p.m. Friday at Sign of the Whale, 1825 M St. NW, Washington, D.C. Put on by the Metro Washington, D.C., Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association, and by the association itself, this event is already sold out. But Penn Staters also will be gathering two doors away at The Mighty Pint, an establishment owned by two Penn State alumni at 1831 M St. NW.
- Another social event, this one starting at 8 p.m. Friday at Looney’s Pub, 8180 Maple Lawn Boulevard, Fulton, Md. The Central Maryland Chapter of the alumni association is hosting this gathering for alumni and friends. State College band Velveeta is scheduled to play from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., with drink specials to start at 8 p.m. The cost will be $10 for chapter members and $12 for non-members. Proceeds will benefit the chapter’s scholarship fund.
- A Penn State pep rally starting at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bud Light Pavilion, between Gate F and Gate G of FedEx Field. The pep-rally tent will open at 9 a.m., and a game ticket is required for admittance.
In addition, the alumni association is promoting a white-out at FedEx Field for Saturday and encouraging all Penn State fans to wear white at the game.
