A 9-year-old who wandered off from his College Township home on Tuesday has been located and returned, State College police said.
Police were called to help find the child at 3:55 p.m., according to a news release. The Centre County Emergency Communications Center launched a ‘Code Red’ call — sometimes known as a reverse-911 call — to tell nearby residents that the boy was missing.
About 6 p.m., according to the news release, a resident contacted police to report a recent sighting of the boy. The resident had earlier received the Code Red alert, police noted.
Officers soon found the child and returned him to his home. State College police were assisted in the search by the Pennsylvania State Police aviation unit, the Centre Region Emergency Strike Team and Centre LifeLink EMS, according to the release.
