A pedestrian struck on State Patty’s Day had been trying to retrieve his hat when he ran into the street, a State College crash report shows.
The pedestrian, identified as Scott Kaminsky, 20, of New York state, ran onto the 200 block of East Beaver Avenue about 3:30 p.m. Saturday, according to the report. He was hit by a Nissan Murano driven by Rehan Al Ahmad, 22, of State College, borough police said.
Ahmad told police there was ‘no way to avoid’ driving into Kaminsky, according to the report.
Kaminsky was transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center via Centre LifeLink. His injuries were listed as non-life-threatening.
Police said Kaminsky was under the influence of alcohol when he was struck. The University of Albany student also was carrying false identification, according to a police report.
A police representative could not immediately say Tuesday if any charges have been or will be filed in the incident.
