The numbers are impressive:
A fundraising total of more than $61,000. More than 154 teams. More than 1,500 individual participants.
Behind them all, at root of the Relay For Life of Penn State University, is a united cause: an opportunity to celebrate those who’ve fought cancer, remember those who’ve died, and express unity in fighting the disease.
Registration for this year’s local Relay is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Penn State ag fields. There, the Relay will run 24 hours, as members of the volunteer fundraising teams take turns walking an event track.
Full details of this annual American Cancer Society fundraiser and community gathering are available through its website. Participants are asked to raise at least $100 apiece for the cause.
