It hasn’t been long since a major Nor’easter dumped up to three feet of snow on parts of the East Coast.
State College lucked out, with just seven inches of accumulation two weekends ago, but snowy weather is on its way back.
There will be snowfall in State College from Tuesday onward, beginning tomorrow night, continuing through Wednesday, and picking back up again on Thursday.
Tom Kines, senior meteorologist for AccuWeather, said that State College should get a couple inches tonight, an inch or so on Tuesday, and a couple inches on Wednesday. Because the snow will fall just an inch or two at a time, plows and shovels should have no problem keeping up with the snowfall, which will ramp down on Thursday after several inches of accumulation throughout the week.
But depending on what part about the winter bothers you most, the weather for this coming weekend might be much worse than the four days of snow on the way.
‘As we get later into the week — on Friday and especially over the weekend — we’re going to have some bitter cold air coming here, certainly the coldest air we’ve seen this winter,’ Kines said.
‘Temperatures in the weekend will only reach the teens, and if we get the brunt of the cold air, it isn’t out of the question that we wouldn’t make it out of the single digits one of those days with below zero wind chill throughout the weekend,’ he added.
So get your shovels ready for the next few days and be prepared to bundle up for any sledding activities over the weekend.
