South Carolina Man Sentenced in State College Knife Assault

A man convicted for a stabbing inside a State College business claims the victim was making fun of him. But there’s nothing funny about the sentence given to William Dixon, of Marion, S.C. He’s been sentenced to 9 months to 3 ½ years in jail.

Dixon’s sentence is the result of a December 3, 2012 incident at the Autoport hotel and restaurant located on South Atherton Street.

That night, State College Police were called after a report of a physical disturbance. An officer found the victim standing in a hallway with a bloody arm and a 4-inch cut on his left shoulder blade. The victim told police that Dixon cut him.

Dixon had two knives in his possession and told officers he cut the victim for making fun of him and getting in his face before attempting to punch him.

In March, Dixon pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated assault, classified as a second degree felony.

“Individuals who come to our community and carry out violence will be held accountable,” Centre County District Attorney Stacy Parks Miller said in a news release.
