State College Spikes Vice President and General Manager Jason Dambach has been named the New York-Penn League’s Executive of the Year, the Spikes announced Monday.
Dambach will be honored at this year’s baseball winter meetings Dec. 3-6 in Nashville, Tenn.
‘I’m honored and humbled to receive the 2012 New York-Penn League Executive of the Year Award, especially because it was voted on by my colleagues from the league,’ said Dambach, who has spent 14 seasons in Minor League Baseball and four atop the Spikes’ management team. ‘This isn’t just my award, it’s for our entire, hard-working front office team. They all dedicate so much time and energy and have so much passion for making the Spikes Experience so special for our valued fans, sponsors and business partners.’
Dambach previous won the Robert F. Julian Community & Baseball Service Award and Vincent McNamara Outstanding Club Award in 2010 and 2011, respectively. He serves as the vice chair of the NYPL Charitable Foundation, directs the league’s annual scholarship program and is the club liaison to the Major League affiliate and Penn State.
The Spikes return to being the short-season, Single A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals in 2013 after previously being affiliated with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
