Movies
In ‘Man on a Ledge,’ a police psychologist tries to talk down an ex-con threatening to jump from a Manhattan rooftop; meanwhile, a diamond heist is under way. This movie is playing at the College 9 Theatre and the UEC 12 Theater.
In ‘Joyful Noise,’ two choir members have differing opinions about how to win a national competition. This movie is playing at the UEC 12 Theater.
The State Theatre is showing ‘Carnage,’ about two pairs of parents who hold a cordial meeting after their sons are involved in a fight. As their time together progresses, increasingly childish behavior throws the evening into chaos.

Bars and Clubs
The Autoport will host Kenna Corbett starting at 8 p.m. Happy hour is set for 5 to 7 p.m.
At Bar Bleu , happy hour will run from 9 to 11 p.m. Lowjack is scheduled to play at 10:30 p.m.
And at the Gingerbread Man, DJ Boner will entertain starting at 10 p.m.

Community Events and Performing Arts
Penn State Centre Stage Studio is presenting ‘Taboo Plays in Repertory’ at the Penn State Downtown Theatre Center. Details are available here
For the Love of Art and Chocolate, a fundraiser for the ClearWater Conservancy, is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel.
Sports
The Penn State National track-and-field competition is scheduled for Friday and Saturday on campus.
Saturday, Jan. 28
Community Events and Performing Arts
The Pennsylvania Military Museum will host a 2 p.m. showing of the film ‘When Trumpets Fade.’
Heart of Gold, an evening of Neil Young music to benefit Easter Seals and the State Theatre, is slated to begin at 7 p.m. at the State Theatre.
The Nittany Valley Symphony will perform at 7:30 p.m. in Eisenhower Auditorium.
Sunday, Jan. 29
Community Events and Performing Arts
Chicago rockers Rise Against will play the Bryce Jordan Center at 7 p.m.
Pennsylvania Centre Orchestra will present ‘Happy Birthday, Mozart!’ at 3 p.m. in the Ramada Inn in State College.
Sports
The Penn State wrestling team will face Ohio State at 2 p.m. in Rec Hall.
