Friday, Nov. 4

In ‘Tower Heist,’ a hard-working group of guys falls victim to a Ponzi scheme. The group conspires to seek justice by robbing the schemer’s high-rise residence. This movie is playing at the College 9 Theatre and the UEC 12 Theater.

In ‘Johnny English Reborn,’ Johnny English goes up against international assassins who are hunting down the Chinese premier. This movie is planing at the UEC 12 Theater.

Live Performances

The Irish Chamber Orchestra will play at 7:30 p.m. in Penn State’s Eisenhower Auditorium. 

At 8 p.m., Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels will play the State Theatre. 

Penn State Centre Stage will present ‘Kiss Me, Kate’ at 7:30 p.m. at the Playhouse Theatre. The show is scheduled to continue through Nov. 15.

Food

Tait Farm will host a Holiday Open House starting at 4 p.m. It’ll continue Saturday and Sunday; details are available here.

 The State College Downtown Farmers Market continues on Locust Lane (across from the HUB lawn) between College Avenue and Beaver Avenue. The market is held Tuesdays and Fridays from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Most of the fruits and vegetables sold are seasonal. Some of the vendors sell baked goods, canned goods and crafts all season long. All vendors produce or grow what they sell.

Bars and Clubs

The Autoport in State College will have happy hour from 5 to 7 p.m. DJ Troy Breon is scheduled to provide entertainment.

At Bar Bleu in State College, happy hour will run from 9 to 11 p.m. Lowjack will play starting at 10:30 p.m.

In Toftrees, the Down Under Steakhouse will host happy hour from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.; Pure Cane Sugar will play at 8 p.m. And at the Gingerbread Man in State College, DJ Boner will entertain starting at 10 p.m.; happy hour will run from 10 p.m. to midnight.

Sports

The State High varsity football team will play Central Dauphin East at Memorial Field starting at 7 p.m.

Saturday, Nov. 5

Community Events

Wildlife photographer Buck Wilde will appear at the State Theatre for a 7 p.m. program, ‘Voices from the Last Wilderness.’ Rare imagery of wolves and bears co-existing will debut there. The gathering will benefit the ClearWater Conservancy. 

The State College Indian Community will host Diwali — a festival of lights — at 6 p.m. in the Mount Nittany Middle School. 

An Acoustic Brew concert in Lemont will feature Mary Gauthier at the Center for Well-Being. It’s scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.

Sports

The Penn State men’s and women’s basketball, men’s soccer and Icers teams all will compete Saturday. Details are available via this page.

Sunday, Nov. 6

Community Events

Millbrook Marsh Nature Center will host a Historic Harvest Festival starting at 2 p.m.

State College Young Professionals will play flag football and cook up some barbecue at the third annual Long Johns and Linebackers event, scheduled for 12:30 p.m. in Spring Creek Park. The public gathering, open to all comers, will benefit Pets Come First.

Sports

The Penn State Icers will play Pittsburgh at 1 p.m.
