Some downtown streets will be closed Thursday evening to accommodate the State College Area High School Homecoming Parade.
The theme for this year’s parade is “Hear Our Roar in 20-1-4”. The event will go off as planned rain or shine.
The parade will begin at 6 p.m. and is expected to run for about an hour and a half. The route of the parade will be closed off starting at 5:45 p.m.
South Fraser Street from Foster Avenue to Fairmount Avenue and the 100 and 200 blocks of West Nittany Avenue will be closed for the duration of the parade.
The parade will start in the high school parking lot, 653 Westerly Parkway. The parade will then move east on Westerly Parkway to South Allen Street, north on South Allen Street to Nittany Avenue then west on Nittany Avenue to South Fraser Street.
The streets adjacent to Memorial Field will also be closed for a pep rally to be held at the field after the parade.
