A Philadelphia man is convicted on weapons charges for threatening to shoot a man on a State College street.
Judge Pamela Ruest found Michael Afuwape guilty during a non-jury trial on Tuesday for carrying a firearm without a license and making terroristic threats.
Afuwape was arrested following an incident in the 400 block of East College Avenue on April 21, 2012.
Prosecutors say four men were walking on Sowers Street when one of them brushed arms with Afuwape. Afuwape began making threats and lifted his shirt, revealing a 9mm pistol stuck in his waistband. He told the men it was a Glock with 13 rounds of ammunition.
The men ran into a nearby McDonald’s restaurant where a security officer called 911 while Afuwape took off. The security officer called 911 a second time when he spotted Afuwape again.
State College police found Afuwape in the back seat of his car. He denied being involved in the altercation and told police there was no gun. Officers saw a Glock sticking out from under the front seat. The gun was loaded with 13 rounds in the magazine.
Afuwape will be sentenced on November 7th at 9:00am.
