Go ahead and grab an ‘Original Sin’ after work at the Adam’s Apple at The Tavern Restaurant, 220 E. College Ave., on Thursday – it’s for a good cause.
Ali Bruce, 23, a Penn State senior and State College native, has been raising money to fund her 11-month long mission trip in July. On Thursday, all of the bartender’s tips at Adam’s Apple are being donated to her cause. According to the Facebook event, the fundraiser starts at 8 p.m.
On her mission trip, called the World Race and sponsored through the organization Adventures in Missions, Bruce will travel to 11 countries in 11 months.
Bruce said she has to raise $15,500 and so far, efforts have been going well and the support from her coworkers at The Tavern has been major, as it was a simple conversation that generated the event.
“It’s super cool for me,” Bruce said.
Pat Daugherty, owner of The Tavern, is dedicating the entire evening to Bruce’s efforts. He said the bar will feature drink specials and light refreshments.
The event at the bar is for patrons age 21 and up only, according to the Facebook event.
