Two State College fraternity houses owned by Greek Housing Services Inc. are up for sale, real-estate listings show.

The houses — at 329 E. Prospect Ave. and 328 E. Fairmount Ave. — are rented by the Penn State chapters of Sigma Alpha Mu and Alpha Sigma Phi, respectively, said Roy Baker, the university director of Greek life.

A leader of Greek Housing Services Inc., a State College-based firm, could not be reached for comment immediately on Wednesday afternoon.

But Baker said he understands that the planned sale of the houses has nothing to do with the fraternity-chapter tenants themselves. He hopes that the houses’ buyer or buyers will maintain them as fraternity residences, he said.

The houses, both in the Highlands neighborhood, appear to have been on the real-estate market for several months. The Fairmount Avenue property has 31 bedrooms and is listed for $1.65 million, according to the LoopNet website. It has 11,560 square feet of interior space and is zoned for 43 occupants, a listing shows.

Meanwhile, the property on Prospect Avenue has 14,711 square feet and 31 bedrooms, according to the RE/MAX Centre Realty website. It’s priced at $2.395 million and is zoned for 63 occupants.
