UPDATED @ 11:26 a.m. Saturday: The public alert reminding people to lock their doors this week stemmed from several local reports of indecent exposure, Patton Township police Chief John Petrick said Friday.

Twice in January and once in March, he said, a man reportedly went into unlocked Patton Township residences and exposed himself. Two of the incidents happened on Vairo Boulevard; the other happened on Fernwood Court, Petrick said.

He said all of the incidents happened between midnight and 5 a.m. On each occasion, the offender had a mask over his face, Petrick said. And on one occasion, he said, the man involved reportedly touched a woman in the targeted residence.

‘We’re asking anyone with information to contact the Patton Township police’ at (814) 234-0271, Petrick said. He emphasized that police are reminding locals to lock their doors and windows.

The suspect — or suspects — in the incidents is described as a white male standing about six feet tall, Petrick said. He said township police are exchanging information with State College borough and Penn Sate police, working to see if the incidents may be connected to another string of indecent exposures on the University Park campus.

Earlier report, posted @ 2:35 p.m. Thursday:

Someone has — or multiple people have — been gaining access to local residences lately through unlocked doors and windows, according to Patton Township police reports.

Additional details weren’t immediately available Thursday afternoon. But the township police department is asking all local residents — including those on the Penn State University Park Campus — to lock doors and report ‘any unusual persons or circumstances in your neighborhood,’ according to a news release.
