Update (11:56 a.m.) — Police have identified the 66-year-old man who was struck and killed by a vehicle yesterday on Park Avenue as State College resident Josef Blunschi. The driver of the vehicle that hit Blunschi is Kay Shamalla, 68 of State College.
An autopsy will take place on Friday and the incident is still under investigation, according to police.
A 66-year-old man was struck by a vehicle and killed on East Park Avenue last night, according to the State College Police Department.
The fatal crash occurred at around 6:50 p.m. at the intersection of Park and McKee Street. The man, who was crossing the street when the car hit him, was transported to Mt. Nittany Medical Center and later pronounced dead.
There were no other injuries in the crash. As the police have yet to notify next of kin, the name of the deceased man has not been released.
The State College Police Department is investigating the crash, which temporary closed down Park between Allen Street and Shortlidge Road while the scene was processed.
