UPDATED: Suspect Sketch Released in PSU Assault Investigation

UPDATED @ 12:12 a.m. Oct. 24: Penn State police have released a sketch of the suspect sought in connection with this reported assault. The sketch is posted to the right of this report.

In addition, police have expanded their written description of the suspect. On top of the details outlined below, he is said to have a thin build.

Police are asking anyone with information about the suspect, his whereabouts or this incident to call them at (814) 863-1111 or Centre County Crimestoppers at (877) 99-CRIME. Callers to Crimestoppers may remain anonymous. Information also may be submitted anonymously online via the Penn State Police Silent Witness website.

A college-age man struck a female student at Thompson Hall, then forced his way into the University Park dormitory, Penn State reported Thursday night.

It happened about 11:10 p.m. Thursday, according to a university statement. The man ‘was reported to be waiting outside the door of Thompson Hall in the (West) Halls area of campus when a female resident was exiting the building,’ it reads.

‘The suspect allegedly punched the female in the face and pushed his way into the residence hall, eventually fleeing down a set of stairs,’ the statement goes on. ‘Police were called to the scene and began combing the area. The suspect also may have been spotted near Hamilton Hall.’

The suspect is described as a black male with a shaved head and standing about 5 feet 8 inches tall, the university reported. He was wearing dark jeans and a dark, hooded sweatshirt at the time, according to the statement.

University police remained on the West Halls scene early Friday morning. They’re asking anyone with information about the suspect, his whereabouts or the incident to call them at (814) 863-1111.
