After last year’s successful partnership between John Urschel and General Electric during the NFL Draft, the guard-mathematician hybrid will run GE’s social media accounts once again Thursday.
Urschel will take over GE’s Facebook, Twitter, and Periscope accounts at 8 p.m. using #DraftScience to provide mathematical analysis on the players selected. Fans can submit questions on Facebook and Twitter and, if you’re lucky, he just might answer.
“John will be applying player statistics against his own mathematic models,” GE’s University Relations Manager Tony Denhart said. “This offers followers to learn more about how forces used in big industry like thrust and power output are vital to better knowing a player’s capabilities.”
Urschel dominated the gridiron with the Nittany Lions and is a current Baltimore Ravens Guard. He boasts a master’s degree from Penn State in math and taught a section of Math 041 — Trigonometry and Analytic Geometry — one of many accomplishments during his time in University Park. He’s currently pursuing a Ph.D. at MIT during the NFL offseason.
