It’s almost April but that doesn’t mean wintry weather is over.

The National Weather Service at State College has issued a winter weather advisory for freezing rain and sleet from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday in southern Centre County and 2 a.m. to noon in northern Centre County.

A “glaze of ice and a coating of sleet are expected,” according to the advisory.

The precipitation will make for slippery road conditions that will impact the morning commute.

AccuWeather forecasts a trace to less than a tenth of an inch of ice. NWS also forecasts up to a half inch of sleet.

Temperatures are expected to climb into the upper 40s on Wednesday afternoon, according to AccuWeather. The region’s up-and-down weather will continue to end the week, with a high of 66 and a possible thunderstorm on Thursday and a high of 41 on Friday.
