Penn State men’s basketball’s star player won’t be returning next season.

After entering the transfer portal earlier this month, guard Kayden Mingo committed to Baylor, according to multiple reports on Thursday afternoon, including from Rivals’ Jamie Shaw. His younger brother Dylan Mingo, a five-star recruit in the 2026 class, recently decommitted from North Carolina and may be following Kayden.

Mingo was the highest-rated recruit in program history and spent just one season with the blue and white, averaging 13.7 points, 4.3 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game, leading the team in both assists and steals.

He is one of seven players to leave Penn State via the transfer portal this offseason, joining guards Melih Tunca, Freddie Dilione V and Dom Stewart and forwards Justin Houser and Mason Blackwood. To backfill, the Nittany Lions so far have added three transfers in Jay Rodgers, Brant Byers and Roberts Blums.
