Class of 2026 three-star safety Darrell Carey has committed to Penn State football, he announced on Friday. Carey is the second safety in the Nittany Lions’ 2026 class.
The 6-foot-2, 185-pound prospect from DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Maryland, ranks as the No. 7 overall player in the state and No. 23 safety in the country, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
Carey joins a Penn State recruiting class ranked No. 9 in the country, per the same metric. He is the second-ranked safety in the class behind four-star WPIAL prospect Matt Sieg from Fort Cherry High in McDonald.
