Penn State has extended its weekend recruiting heater.
The Nittany Lions on Sunday morning earned a commitment from three-star, class of 2027 offensive lineman Jon Sassic, he announced on X. Sassic ranks as the No. 31 Pennsylvania native, No. 69 interior offensive lineman and No. 1,018 overall recruit in the cycle, per the 247Sports composite rankings.
He attends Central Catholic High School in Pittsburgh, which produced current Penn State cornerback Xxavier Thomas and wide receiver Peter Gonzalez. Three-star cornerback Zachary Gleason Jr., who committed to Penn State’s 2027 class last month, is also a current student.
Standing at 6-foot-5, 285 pounds, Sassic picked up an offer from the Nittany Lions while on an unofficial visit last month and has since made another return trip to campus, where he was recruited by offensive line coach Ryan Clanton.
Other than Penn State, Sassic held power conference offers from NC State, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Pitt, Boston College and Florida State. He scheduled official visits with the Wolfpack, Hokies, Mountaineers and Panthers for this summer, but it’s unclear if he still intends to take them.
With Sassic’s commitment, the Nittany Lions’ class ranks No. 13 nationally and No. 5 in the Big Ten, according to the 247Sports composite, and sits No. 6 nationally and No. 4 in the conference per 247Sports’ in-house rankings.
