Penn State’s future at tight end appears to be in good hands.
The Nittany Lions on Monday morning added a commitment from four-star, class of 2027 tight end Cooper Terwilliger, one of the team’s top targets. Terwilliger ranks as the No. 1 recruit from South Dakota, No. 12 tight end and No. 258 overall prospect, per the 247Sports composite rankings.
Listed at 6-foot-5, 225 pounds, Terwilliger is heading into his senior season at T.F. Riggs High School, where he’s credited with 98 receptions for 1,372 yards and 12 touchdowns across the last three years.
Since picking up an offer from offensive coordinator and tight ends coach Taylor Mouser in December, Terwilliger has been to campus twice, once for Junior Day and again last weekend on an unofficial visit.
Terwilliger holds a long and impressive list of offers, including from Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame, Indiana, Florida, Auburn, Florida State, Texas A&M, Nebraska and others. His relationship with Penn State’s staff is extensive, as they became the first school to offer him in April 2024 while at Iowa State.
With his decision, the Nittany Lions’ 2027 class is up to seven total commitments and has its first tight end, jumping up to No. 18 nationally and No. 8 in the Big Ten.
