Penn State’s recent recruiting run has extended to four commitments.
The Nittany Lions on Saturday evening added a commitment from three-star class of 2027 defensive lineman Carter Blattner. Blattner ranks as the No. 8 New Jersey native, No. 48 defensive lineman and No. 417 overall prospect per the 247Sports composite rankings, bordering on four-star status.
Blattner attends Northern Highlands High School in Allendale, New Jersey, and is listed at 6-foot-5 and 260 pounds. He was on campus this weekend for an unofficial visit, though he also has an official visit scheduled for June 5.
He holds offers from several power conference schools, including Virginia Tech, Wisconsin, Kentucky, USC, Nebraska and Pitt. Blattner scheduled official visits with the Hokies, Badgers and Wildcats for this summer, but it’s unclear if he still intends to take them.
Blattner becomes the first defensive lineman and fourth overall recruit to join Penn State’s 2027 class, joining cornerbacks Semajay Robinson, Zachary Gleason Jr. and Ka’ron Ceaser. He’s the highest-rated player in the group, which now ranks No. 35 nationally and No. 12 in the Big Ten.
The Nittany Lions are expected to land several more commitments in the coming weeks.
