Penn State football has been granted its first night game of the 2024 season. The No. 10-ranked Nittany Lions’ homecoming game against No. 24 Illinois will kickoff at 7 or 7:30 p.m. EDT on Sept. 28, the Big Ten announced on Monday.

The game’s broadcast designation has not yet been determined. Action Network’s Brett McMurphy reported in June that Penn State-Illinois was NBC’s preferred primetime game for Sept. 28.

Penn State’s first two games have been played at noon, the first being a 34-12 win at West Virginia and the most recent being a 34-27 victory at home over Bowling Green.

Coming off an idle week, the Nittany Lions will return to Beaver Stadium and face Kent State (0-3) at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday with Big Ten Network set to broadcast the contest.

No kickoff times or broadcast designations past the game against the Illini have been announced.
