Kyron Hudson’s college football career paints a picture of unrealized potential.
Beginning as a high four-star recruit out of renowned Mater Dei High School in California, Hudson arrived at USC — nicknamed Wide Receiver U — with big expectations. Four years later, he entered the transfer portal with 57 receptions, 655 yards and five touchdowns to his name.
Penn State, in desperate need of wide receiver help, brought in Hudson, along with transfers Devonte Ross and Trebor Peña as starters in 2025.
During his lone season as a Nittany Lion, Hudson hauled in 23 receptions for 288 yards and two touchdowns, though he went quiet after the start of Big Ten play, totaling just nine catches. Hudson saw his snap share decrease throughout the year, failing to produce in the passing game and struggling as a run blocker.
While his production won’t draw much attention, Hudson’s big-play ability may intrigue scouts and earn him some interest. He earned invites to Local Pro Days with the Baltimore Ravens, New York Giants, New York Jets and Philadelphia Eagles.
“Just be myself, first off, and then just show them the routes, my strength, and just go out there, just have fun,” Hudson said. “I think that’s the main thing. That’s what we forget about a lot, go out there and have fun. Just be the person I am.”
