Penn State added another piece to its defensive depth on Thursday as former Florida cornerback Jalen Kimber has reportedly committed to the Nittany Lions according to the 247 Sports Network. Kimber had originally committed to Louisville in the transfer portal but will now play for Penn State.
The Texas native will come to Penn State with two years of eligibility remaining following starting off his career at Georgia before transferring to Florida. While at Florida he appeared in 25 games and made 12 starts for the Gators this past season. Coming in at 6-feet and 185-pounds, Kimber racked up 23 tackles, five pass breakups and a fumble recovery in 2023. Kimber saw significantly less time while in Georgia in no small part due to a shoulder injury which cut his season short.
According to the 247 Network, Kimber was rated the No. 71 overall prospect and No. 7 cornerback in the 2020 class. He joins Georgia transfer A.J. Harris in Penn State’s growing coverage room, Harris committed to Penn State on Thursday as well. The duo will join the likes of Cam Miller, Zion Tracy and Elliot Washington at cornerback in the early stages of Penn State’s 2024 campaign.
That group will look to replace the talents of Kalen King and Johnny Dixon, two quality cornerbacks for the past several seasons.
