Following the conclusion of the 2023 NBA Draft, former Penn State shooting guard Andrew Funk has agreed to join the Denver Nuggets for the NBA Summer League. Penn State announced the signing on Friday afternoon.
Funk will join draftee Jalen Pickett in Denver after the point guard’s second round and No. 32 overall selection Thursday night. The Nittany Lion pair will also reunite with Penn State hoops alum Calvin Booth, the general manager of the reigning NBA champions.
Fellow Nittany Lion Seth Lundy was drafted No. 46 overall by the Atlanta Hawks.
Funk ranked as the third-highest scorer on the team at the end of his first year in Happy Valley. He spent his first four years of collegiate basketball at Bucknell, where he operated as a three-year starter and recorded 1,230 points as a Bison. Throughout his four years at Bucknell, Funk nailed 190 triples, which is good for the seventh-best in program history.
At Penn State, Funk started all 37 games of the 2022-23 season and led the team and Big Ten in three-pointers with 112 throughout his single season in blue and white.
In Penn State’s opening draw of the NCAA Tournament against Texas A&M, Funk drilled 24 points by way of eight triples and shot 8-of-10 from distance. He closed the game with 27 total points, four rebounds, and one assist in his national attention-garnering performance.
