Penn State Men’s Basketball: Seth Lundy Declares for NBA Draft

Penn State senior Seth Lundy will not exercise his extra year of eligibility and will enter the NBA Draft, he announced on Wednesday afternoon.

Lundy did not indicate if he had hired an agent which would make him ineligible to return. Declaring for the draft does not make a player ineligible to return if a player removes his name from the draft pool prior to a later date.

“I am forever grateful to all my coaches and coaching staffs past and present who helped guide me, develop me and help me become a better person both on and off the court. Thank you to my teammates who made these past four years unforgettable,” Lundy wrote on Twitter.

While at Penn State, Lundy was a key piece to the Nittany Lions’ success on both ends of the court operating as a defensive specialist and three-point shooter. This past season Lundy averaged a career-high 14.2 points and 6.3 rebounds per game during the 2022-23 season while shooting 40% from three-point range. The season marked his first at Penn State with the same head coach in back-to-back seasons.

“We are so proud of Seth and stand behind him every step of the way as he pursues his dream of becoming a professional basketball player,” said head coach Micah Shrewsberry. “Seth has the talent, work ethic and determination to succeed at the next level. He’ll always have a support system in myself and his Penn State family.”

Lundy is the third player to leave the program on the day, joining Dallion Johnson and Caleb Dorsey who both reportedly entered the transfer portal. Johnson and Dorsey both saw limited action during the 2022-23 season and seemed to still be the odd-men out for the Nittany Lions’ immediate future plans. Penn State is still awaiting to hear from head coach Micah Shrewsberry about whether or not he will remain in State College or return home to Indiana to coach Notre Dame.
